Bolinas is only 30 miles north of San Francisco by car, but every way into town is via two lane windy roads. If you are starting in San Francisco, the total trip will take about one and a half hours.
There are two ways to get into town, both via Stinson Beach. The Coastal Route on Highway 1 is beautiful. If you want to take a different way there (or back), you can take an Inland Route over Mt. Tam that heads through redwood forests.
